Is God my heart's desire?

Image
Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. - Matthew 16:24-25 (NIV) Before the Lord God made man upon the earth, He first prepared for him a world of useful and pleasant things for his sustenance and delight. In the Genesis account of creation, these are simply "things." In the deep heart of the man was a shrine where none but God was worthy to come. Within him was God, and without, a thousand gifts which God had showered upon him. But sin has introduced complications and has made those very gifts of God a potential source of ruin to the soul. Our woes began when God was forced out of His central shrine, and things were allowed to enter. The way to a deeper knowledge of God is through the lonely valleys of soul poverty and abnegation of all things. The blessed ones who possess the Kingdom

Am I seeking God?

When You said, “ Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “ I shall seek Your face, Lord .” - Psalm 27:8 And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. - Jeremiah 29:13 I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me. - Proverbs 8:17 Boast in His holy name; May the heart of those who seek the Lord be joyful. Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually. - Psalm 105:3-4 I sought the Lord, and He answered me And rescued me from all my fears. - Psalm 34:4 May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And may those who love Your salvation say continually, “May God be exalted!” - Psalm 70:4 The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. - Lamentations 3:25 The young lions suffer want and hunger, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. - Psalm 34:10 And without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for the One who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He proves to be One who rewards

How big is your God?

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take up the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will take hold of me. If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, and the light around me will be night,” even darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You. - Psalm 139:7-12 (NASB) While in this world, we are confined by time, space, and physical laws as established by our Creator. God, however, is not limited by the constraints He has incorporated into His creation. God fills heaven and earth just as the ocean fills a bucket that has been submerged a mile down. The bucket is full of the ocean, but the ocean surrounds the bucket in all directions. So when God says, "I fill heaven and earth," He does, and heaven and earth

Am I redeeming the time?

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. - Ephesians 5:15-18 (KJV) Therefore see that you walk carefully [living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil], not as the unwise, but as wise [sensible, intelligent, discerning people], making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence], because the days are [filled with] evil. Therefore do not be foolish and thoughtless, but understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is. - Ephesians 5:15-17 (Amplified Bible) A.W. Tozer used these four questions to identify our true priorities, which in turn align with how we spend our time. 1. What do you value most? 2. What would you most hate to lo
