How am I handling adversity?

They say they serve Christ? But I have served him far more! (Have I gone mad to boast like this?) I have worked harder, been put in jail more often, been whipped times without a number, and faced death again and again and again. Three times, I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times, I was shipwrecked. Once, I was in the open sea all night and the whole next day. Five different times, the Jews gave me their terrible thirty-nine lashes. I have traveled many weary miles and have often been in great danger from flooded rivers and from robbers and from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the hands of the Gentiles. I have faced grave dangers from mobs in the cities and from death in the deserts and in the stormy seas, and from men who claim to be brothers in Christ but are not. I have lived with weariness and pain and sleepless nights. Often, I have been hungry and thirsty and have gone without food; often, I have shivered with cold, without enough clothing to keep me warm. Then, besides all this, I have the constant worry of how the churches are getting along: Who makes a mistake, and I do not feel his sadness? Who falls without my longing to help him? God is Sovereign - He RULES OVER ALL

The Lord has established His throne in the heavens,
And His sovereignty rules over all. - Psalm 103:19 (NASB)

There is nothing that touches the life of a Christ-follower that is not allowed by God for their good and His glory.

Shall we receive only pleasant things from the hand of God and never anything unpleasant?

God is Omniscient - He KNOWS ALL

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know, when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. God is Omnipresent - He is ALWAYS WITH YOU

I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there, your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. God is Omnipotent - He is ALL POWERFUL

Abraham and Sarah were both very old by this time, and Sarah was long past the age of having children. So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?” Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, ‘Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” - Genesis 18:11-14 (NLT)

God is Immutable - He NEVER CHANGES

“I am the Lord, and I do not change." - Malachi 3:6a (NLT)

Be Encouraged to know God, submit God's will God's way, and then say,
It is well with my soul.
