Am I living above reproach?

Image
Let me be your example here, my brothers: let my example be the standard by which you can tell who are the genuine Christians among those about you. For there are many, of whom I have told you before and tell you again now, even with tears, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ. These men are heading for utter destruction—their God is their own appetite, their pride is in what they should be ashamed of, and this world is the limit of their horizon. But we are citizens of Heaven; our outlook goes beyond this world to the hopeful expectation of the savior who will come from Heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will re-make these wretched bodies of ours to resemble his own glorious body, by that power of his which makes him the master of everything that is. - Philippians 3:17-21 (Phillips) Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in Heaven. You, therefore, must be

Do I know God’s Word?

Image
It is true that I am an ordinary, weak human being, but I don't use human plans and methods to win my battles. I use God's mighty weapons, not those made by men, to knock down the devil's strongholds. These weapons can break down every proud argument against God and every wall that can be built to keep men from finding him. With these weapons, I can capture rebels and bring them back to God and change them into men whose hearts' desire is obedience to Christ. - 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (Living Bible) He must hold firmly to the trustworthy word [of God] as it was taught to him so that he will be able both to give accurate instruction in sound [reliable, error-free] doctrine and to refute those who contradict [it by explaining their error]. - Titus 1:9 (Amplified Bible) Am I prepared to identify and refute false doctrine? As the Scriptures say, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent." So where does this leave the philo

Am I a servant?

Image
This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. - 1 Corinthians 4:1 (ESV) We are all servants. The only question is whom we will serve. - R. C. Sproul Whom do you serve? I became a servant of this gospel through the gift of God's grace given to me through the working of his power. - Ephesians 3:7 (NIV) Paul understood to execute what God had called Him to do, be a servant of Christ, could never be done in his own strength, but only through the working of His power. That power is supplied only as we align ourselves to the source by executing God's will, God's way. 1. God's power and our weakness. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christ's power may rest on me. - 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) Am I willing to serve outside my comfort zone? 2. God's power and our prayer. The prayer of a

Am I led by the Spirit?

Image
All who follow the leading of God's Spirit are God's own sons. Nor are you meant to relapse into the old slavish attitude of fear—you have been adopted into the very family circle of God, and you can say with a full heart, "Father, my Father." The Spirit himself endorses our inward conviction that we really are the children of God. Think what that means. If we are his children, we share his treasures and all that Christ claims, as he will belong to all of us as well! Yes, if we share in his suffering, we shall certainly share in his glory. - Romans 8:14-17 (Phillips) Teach me to do Your will [so that I may please You], For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground. - Psalm 143:10 (Amplified Bible) At the point of salvation (justification), the Holy Spirit enters the life of the newly transformed follower of Christ and remains there permanently. His work in our lives is manifested in two primary ways. 1. Illumination - the Holy Spirit provides divine

Am I thankful?

Image
Rejoice always and delight in your faith; be unceasing and persistent in prayer; in every situation [no matter what the circumstances], be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (Amplified Bible) When was the last time you prayed for no other reason but to tell God everything you are thankful for and praise Him for His faithfulness? Perspective is a very curious thing. With no change in our circumstances, it can completely change our attitude about the events occurring in our lives. Whether an event is good or bad, whether a person is honest or deceitful, whether I am being punished or protected, whether I settle for what is good or what is best, or whether something is helpful or harmful. When Joseph was to be killed by his brothers, then sold into slavery, and then wrongfully imprisoned for many years, one can assume there were days when he wondered why God would allow these evil acts to impact his l
