Am I separated from the world?

Image
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. - 1 John 2:15-17 (NLT) Authentic faith is marked by a desire to be separated from the world. When we accept Jesus as our Savior (justification), we begin a process of increasing in Christ-likeness (sanctification). In the process of increasing in Christ-likeness, our mind is being renewed. Our desire for the things of this world decreases as we stop being controlled by our old sin nature and seek to know and execute God's plan for our life. Don't change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God change you inside with

Do I show selfless love?

I give a new commandment to you that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another." - John 13:34-35 (ESV) As transformed followers of Jesus Christ, our authentic faith is manifested in our selfless love for others. In 1 John 4, John gives us five reasons why a true Christ-follower executes this life with selfless love for others. 1. God is the essence of love. Beloved, let us [unselfishly] love and seek the best for one another, for love is from God, and everyone who loves [others] is born of God and knows God [through personal experience]. - 1 John 4:7 (Amplified Bible) 2. To follow the supreme example of God's sacrificial love in sending His Son for us. By this, the love of God was revealed in us, that God had sent His only Son into the world so that we may live through Him. - 1 John 4:9 (NASB) 3. Love is the heart of a Christian witness. Am I praying continually?

Jesus told them a story showing that it was necessary for them to pray consistently and never quit. He said, “There was once a judge in some city who never gave God a thought and cared nothing for people. A widow in that city kept after him: ‘My rights are being violated. Protect me! ’He never gave her the time of day. But after this went on and on, he said to himself, ‘I care nothing that God thinks, even less what people think. But because this widow won’t quit badgering me, I’d better do something and see that she gets justice—otherwise, I’m going to end up beaten black-and-blue by her pounding. ”Then the Master said, “Do you hear what that judge, corrupt as he is, is saying? So what makes you think God won’t step in and work justice for his chosen people, who continue to cry out for help? Won’t he stick up for them? I assure you, he will. He will not drag his feet. But how much of that kind of persistent faith will the Son of Man find on the earth when he returns?” - Luke 18:1-8 (M

Am I devoted to God's glory?

Brothers and sisters, God chose you to be his. Think about that! Not many of you were wise in the way the world judges wisdom. Not many of you had great influence, and not many of you came from important families. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. He chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. And God chose what the world thinks is unimportant—what the world hates and thinks is nothing. He chose these to destroy what the world thinks is important. God did this so that no one could stand before him and boast about anything. It is God who has made you part of Christ Jesus. And Christ has become for us wisdom from God. He is the reason we are right with God and pure enough to be in his presence. Christ is the one who sets us free from sin. So, as the Scriptures say, "Whoever boasts should boast only about the Lord." - 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 (ERV) The following are the words of God when His chosen people Israel swore their allegiance to G
