Who is directing my path?

Image
To you, O Lord, I pray. Don’t fail me, Lord, for I am trusting you. Don’t let my enemies succeed. Don’t give them victory over me. None of those who have faith in God will ever be disgraced for trusting him. But all who harm the innocent shall be defeated.  Show me the path where I should go, O Lord; point out the right road for me to walk. Lead me; teach me; for you are the God who gives me salvation. I have no hope except in you. Overlook my youthful sins, O Lord! Look at me instead through eyes of mercy and forgiveness, through eyes of everlasting love and kindness. The Lord is good and glad to teach the proper path to all who go astray; he will teach the ways that are right and best to those who humbly turn to him. And when we obey him, every path he guides us on is fragrant with his loving-kindness and his truth. But Lord, my sins! How many they are. Oh, pardon them for the honor of your name. Where is the man who fears the Lord? God will teach him how to choose the best. He s...

Am I obedient to God's Word?

Image
How blessed are those whose way is blameless, Who walk in the law of the Lord. Am I committed to total obedience to His Word? Do I spend time meditating on His Word daily? How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, Who seek Him with all their heart. Am I seeking God with all my heart? They also do no unrighteousness; They walk in His ways. Do I justify what I want when it contradicts His Word? Am I 100% committed to executing His will, His way? You have ordained Your precepts, That we should keep them diligently. Do I "value highly" obedience to His Word? But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him. - Hebrews 11:6 (Amplified Bible) Oh that my ways may be established To keep Your statutes! Is it my life's goal to know God and to be obedient to His Word? Then I shall not be ashamed When I look upon all...

Am I executing His plan?

Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. - Joshua 1:6-9 (ESV) How do I execute His plan? 1. Meditate on His Word daily This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night - Joshua 1:8a Meditation is the activity of calling to mind, and thinking over, ...

Why do I exist? - Part 2

Image
I bless the holy name of God with all my heart. Yes, I will bless the Lord and not forget the glorious things he does for me. He forgives all my sins. He heals me. He ransoms me from hell. He surrounds me with loving-kindness and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things! My youth is renewed like the eagle’s! He has not punished us as we deserve for all our sins, for his mercy toward those who fear and honor him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far away from us as the east is from the west. He is like a father to us, tender and sympathetic to those who reverence him. But the loving-kindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting to those who reverence him; his salvation is to children’s children of those who are faithful to his covenant and remember to obey him! Let everything everywhere bless the Lord. And how I bless him too! - Psalm 103:1-5,10-13,17,18,22 (Living Bible) From the Westminster Shorter Catechism of 1648...

Why do I exist?

How do you know what is going to happen tomorrow? For the length of your lives is as uncertain as the morning fog—now you see it; soon it is gone. - James 4:14 (Living Bible) Do you want to change your life in 19 minutes? In my 55 years of being a transformed follower of Jesus Christ, I have never heard the answer to today's question presented in a more impactful way. Click here to view the video. So now, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith in his promises, we can have real peace with him because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. For because of our faith, he has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to actually becoming all that God has had in mind for us to be. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time...
