To Whom are you listening?

Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names. - Hebrews 1:1-4 (NLT)

How often am I meditating on the Word of God and patiently listening for guidance to execute His will, His way, in His timing, and for His glory?

Are my prayers hurried "wish lists" or meaningful acts of worship?

Is my Bible reading a daily devotional or a devoted time of meditating on God’s Word with a desire to hear His voice?

“If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live. When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” - John 14:15-21 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, as You have promised the Holy Spirit in Your Word, I pray for your Holy Spirit to fall and rest upon me. I pray that Your Spirit would take Your Word and drive it deep into my heart. I pray that Your Holy Spirit would accompany me so that I am not only a hearer of Your Word, but that I would be a doer of it as well. I am thankful, Lord, that I not only celebrate the promise of Your Holy Spirit, but as a transformed follower of Jesus Christ I am also able to give thanks for the indwelling and guidance of Your Holy Spirit in my daily life. Sensitize my heart to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and help me to hear Your voice and execute Your will. In Jesus name, Amen.
