Am I committed to a holy life?
So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” - 1 Peter 13-16 (NLT)
For the Lord’s sake, submit to all human authority—whether the king as head of state, or the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right. It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil. Respect everyone, and love the family of believers. Fear God, and respect the king. - 1 Peter 2:13-17 (NLT)
Some biblical examples of holy living...
Jesus Christ - our ultimate example
He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven. Unlike those other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices every day. They did this for their own sins first and then for the sins of the people. But Jesus did this once for all when he offered himself as the sacrifice for the people’s sins. The law appointed high priests who were limited by human weakness. But after the law was given, God appointed his Son with an oath, and his Son has been made the perfect High Priest forever. - Hebrews 7:26-28 (NLT)
Am I increasing in Christlikeness?
Moses - the man of God and servant of the Lord
He chose to share the oppression of God’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of Christ than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to his great reward. It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible. - Hebrews 11:25-27 (NLT)
Have I committed to obeying God above all else?
Ruth - unselfishly loyal and faithful
“Look,” Naomi said to her, “your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods. You should do the same.” But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!” When Naomi saw that Ruth was determined to go with her, she said nothing more. - Ruth 1:15-18 (NLT)
To what level have I committed to personal holiness: when convenient, when it doesn't require sacrifice, when it aligns with what I want, or unconditionally?
David - a man after God's own heart
I’ve promised it once, and I’ll promise it again:
I will obey your righteous regulations.
Your laws are my treasure;
they are my heart’s delight.
I am determined to keep your decrees to the very end.
I hate those with divided loyalties,
but I love your instructions.
You are my refuge and my shield;
your word is my source of hope.
Get out of my life, you evil-minded people,
for I intend to obey the commands of my God. - Psalm 119:106, 111-115 (NLT)
Is this my prayer?
Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me.
Do not banish me from your presence,
and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and make me willing to obey you. - Psalm 51:10-12 (NLT)
Barnabas - exemplified and encouraged others to holy living
When the church at Jerusalem heard what had happened, they sent Barnabas to Antioch. When he arrived and saw this evidence of God’s blessing, he was filled with joy, and he encouraged the believers to stay true to the Lord. Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and strong in faith. And many people were brought to the Lord. - Acts 11:22-24 (NLT)
Am I encouraging others to holy living by my words and actions?
Daniel - an uncompromising life
But Daniel was determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king. He asked the chief of staff for permission not to eat these unacceptable foods. Now God had given the chief of staff both respect and affection for Daniel. - Daniel 1:8-9 (NLT)
But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God. Daniel answered, “Long live the king! My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.” The king was overjoyed and ordered that Daniel be lifted from the den. Not a scratch was found on him, for he had trusted in his God. “I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble with fear before the God of Daniel.
For he is the living God,and he will endure forever.
His kingdom will never be destroyed,
and his rule will never end. - Daniel 6:22-23,26 (NLT)

What is He calling me to change?
If God was in your mind...
What would He be tossing out?
(maybe...unforgiveness, pride, envy, greed, lust, anger, fear, worry, anxiety,...)
What would He be moving in?
(maybe...His Word, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control...)
Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me.
