How should we then live?

So prepare your minds for action, be completely sober [in spirit—steadfast, self-disciplined, spiritually and morally alert], fix your hope completely on the grace [of God] that is coming to you when Jesus Christ is revealed. [Live] as obedient children [of God]; do not be conformed to the evil desires which governed you in your ignorance [before you knew the requirements and transforming power of the good news regarding salvation]. But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves in all your conduct [be set apart from the world by your godly character and moral courage]; because it is written, "You shall be holy (set apart), for I am holy." If you address as Father, the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in [reverent] fear [of Him] and with profound respect for Him throughout the time of your stay on earth. - 1 Peter 1:13-17 (Amplified Bible)

Faith is trusting God for the present, your day-to-day while on this earth.

Hope is trusting God for the future, the return of Christ and eternity with Him.

Thank God, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, that in his great mercy, we have been born again into a life full of hope through Christ's rising again from the dead! You can now hope for a perfect inheritance beyond the reach of change and decay, "reserved" in Heaven for you. And in the meantime, you are guarded by the power of God operating through your faith till you enter fully into salvation, which is all ready for the denouement of the last day. - 1 Peter 1:3-5 (Phillips)

If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live? - Ezekiel 33:10b

How shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? - Hebrews 2:3a (ESV)

What should our response be to God for such a great salvation?

1. Hope

Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, "That's how many descendants you will have!" And Abraham's faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah's womb. Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this, he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God was able to do whatever he promised. And because of Abraham's faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn't just for Abraham's benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God. - Romans 4:18-25 (NLT)

We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. - Titus 2:12b-13 (NLT)

Is my hope fixed on the return of Jesus Christ, or what can I acquire here and now?

Am I living this life with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God?

2. Holy

For I am the Lord your God. You must consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. For I, the Lord, am the one who brought you up from the land of Egypt, that I might be your God. Therefore, you must be holy because I am holy. - Leviticus 11:44a,45 (NLT)

No man should desire to be happy who is not at the same time holy. He should spend his efforts in seeking to know and do the will of God, leaving to Christ the matter of how happy he should be. - A. W. Tozer

Therefore, become imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father]; and walk continually in love [that is, value one another—practice empathy and compassion, unselfishly seeking the best for others], just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God [slain for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance. - Ephesians 5:1-2 (Amplified Bible)

Is my life characterized by a commitment to obey God and love others unselfishly?

3. Honor

Therefore, I, the Lord God of Israel, declare that although I promised that your branch of the tribe of Levi could always be my priests, it is ridiculous to think that what you are doing can continue. I will honor only those who honor me, and I will despise those who despise me. - 1 Samuel 2:30 (Living Bible)

If God gives you a few more years, remember, it is not yours. Your time must honor God, your home must honor God, your activity must honor God, and everything you do must honor God. - A. W. Tozer

When it comes to honoring God, are my actions in alignment with my words?

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning, our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim, falling down before Thee,
which wert and art and evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
only Thou art holy, there is none beside Thee,
perfect in pow'r, in love, and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name, in earth and sky and sea;
Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity! - Reginald Heber

Be Encouraged to hope for His soon return, be holy in all you do, and honor Him in both words and actions.
