Am I maturing in Christ-likeness?
God has given us everything we need to live a godly life through his divine power. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to Himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share your divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. - 2 Peter 1:3-8,10 (NLT)
The Christian life is not lived to the honor of God without effort. Even though God has poured His divine power into the believer, the Christian is required to make every disciplined effort alongside what God has done in the form of a living faith manifesting the following qualities in increasing measure.
Moral Excellence - the pursuit of the moral will of God in every area of life. This includes values, attitudes, priorities, goals or purposes, devotion, and Christ-like character in the home, at the office, at church, as well as in one's hobbies and entertainment. Moral virtue is something that should characterize the Christian everywhere and in everything.
Do I pursue the moral will of God in every area of life?
Knowledge - understanding, correct insight, truth properly comprehended and applied. It requires diligent study and pursuit of truth in the Word of God.
Do I diligently study the Word of God each day?
Self-control - to control the flesh, the passions, and the bodily desires rather than allowing oneself to be controlled by them. Moral Excellence, guided by Knowledge, disciplines desire and makes it the servant, not the master, of one's life.
Do I live a life that leads others away from sin?
Perseverance - patience or endurance in doing what is right despite the circumstances, or what others are doing, or what you believe you deserve. The spiritual staying power that will die before it gives in.
Do I persevere in doing what is right?
Godliness - to live a life of worship, reverently, loyally, and obediently toward God.
Am I in awe of God?
Brotherly Kindness - the genuine sacrificial love of others that validates itself in daily conduct.
Do I foster friendships with a spiritual perspective?
Love
By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another." - John 13:35 (Amplified Bible)
Do I exhibit sacrificial, selfless love for others in my daily interactions?
Therefore, believers, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you [be sure that your behavior reflects and confirms your relationship with God]; for by doing these things [actively developing these virtues], you will never stumble [in your spiritual growth and will live a life that leads others away from sin]; - 2 Peter 1:10 (Amplified Bible)
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen. - Jude 1:24-25 (NKJV)
Be Encouraged to execute a living faith.
