Am I living an uncompromising life? - Part 3

Therefore see that you walk carefully [living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil], not as the unwise, but as wise [sensible, intelligent, discerning people], making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence], because the days are [filled with] evil. Therefore do not be foolish and thoughtless, but understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is. - Ephesians 5:15-17 (Amplified Bible)

At what point would you abandon your moral standards for personal gain?

When does our desire eclipses the standards, we say we hold?

People say they oppose dishonesty and corruption - until that means confronting their boss and likely losing their job.

People have high moral standards - until an unholy relationship kindles their lusts and they rationalize their compromise.

People are honest - until just a little dishonesty saves them a lot of money.

People claim convictions about sin - until that sin is committed by their own children.

People know something is definitely wrong - but will cover up the truth for the sake of keeping the peace.

People claim a conviction - but will directly violate it for someone whose favor they seek.

People know what ought to be said - but don't say it for fear of losing face.

People say they believe in the Bible - but stay in churches where the Bible isn't taught.

People are honest - until just a little dishonesty saves them a lot of money.

- John MacArthur, An Uncompromising Life

West Point cadet prayer:

Make us choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong, and never be content with a half-truth when the whole can be won. Endow us with courage that is born of loyalty to all that is noble and worthy, that scorns to compromise with vice and injustice, and knows no fear when truth and right are in jeopardy.

An uncompromising spirit never gives up. It's common to hear excuses like "I knew what I should do, and I tried to do it, but it just didn't work out," or "I had no choice; the others were all doing that." But an uncompromising character will never abandon principle, even when the first door seems closed. - John MacArthur, An Uncompromising Life

By faith, Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter because he preferred to endure the hardship of the people of God rather than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin. He considered the reproach of the Christ [that is, the rebuke he would suffer for his faithful obedience to God] to be greater wealth than all the treasures of Egypt; for he looked ahead to the reward [promised by God]. - Hebrews 11:24-26 (Amplified Bible)

And since only your rules can give me wisdom and understanding, no wonder I hate every false teaching. Your words are a flashlight to light the path ahead of me and keep me from stumbling. I've said it once, and I'll say it again and again: I will obey these wonderful laws of yours. - Psalm 119:104-106 (Living Bible)

According to Proverbs 22:1, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.” You don’t have a good name at all unless your ethical integrity is intact and above reproach.

Be Encouraged to saturate your mind with the Word of God, sensitize your heart to the Holy Spirit, and execute an uncompromising life.
