Am I living an uncompromising life? - Part 2

But Daniel was determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king. He asked the chief of staff for permission not to eat these unacceptable foods. Now God had given the chief of staff both respect and affection for Daniel. But he responded, "I am afraid of my lord the king, who has ordered that you eat this food and wine. If you become pale and thin compared to the other youths your age, I am afraid the king will have me beheaded." Daniel spoke with the attendant who had been appointed by the chief of staff to look after Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. "Please test us for ten days on a diet of vegetables and water," Daniel said. "At the end of the ten days, see how we look compared to the other young men who are eating the king's food. Then make your decision in light of what you see." The attendant agreed to Daniel's suggestion and tested them for ten days. At the end of the ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been eating the food assigned by the king. So after that, the attendant fed them only vegetables instead of the food and wine provided for the others. - Daniel 1:8-16 (NLT)

Daniel chose to remain faithful to what he knew was right, God's Word, even when facing the world's most powerful ruler. He knew that eating the king's food would compromise what he knew was right, so he stood firm, refused to eat the food, and remained faithful to God. In this life, there will be times when the world's system will tempt you to compromise your values either because you do not see another way or because you want your own way. Satan is very crafty in manipulating even Scripture to get you to compromise what you know is right, as evidenced by Eve's encounter with the serpent in the Garden of Eden. We will always have a choice to remain faithful to God's will, God's way, and God's time in any circumstance of life.

Have I compromised what I know is right to achieve a certain outcome?

Has the world's thinking influenced how I think or live more than God’s truth has?

You don't have to play politics to advance God's kingdom. Just don't compromise, and obey God as He places you where He wants. If God wants to lift you up in a society, a church, a ministry, or any other situation, He will work on the hearts of the people you need to reach that place. Don't seek your own advancement; remember God's special care for His faithful people. That care is what lifted Moses from the Nile's reeds to Pharaoh's palace. Simply commit to living an uncompromising life and trusting in God's sovereignty. - John MacArthur, An Uncompromising Life

Am I fully trusting in God's sovereignty or my own efforts?

The one who loves his life [eventually] loses it [through death], but the one who hates his life in this world [and is concerned with pleasing God] will keep it for life eternal. If anyone serves Me, he must [continue to faithfully] follow Me [without hesitation, holding steadfastly to Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me]; and wherever I am [in heaven's glory], there will My servant be also. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. - John 12:25-26 (Amplified Bible)

Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him. - Charles Stanley

You made all the delicate inner parts of my body and knitted them together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it. You were there while I was being formed in utter seclusion! You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book! - Psalm 139:13-16 (Living Bible)

God, I don't know how to come to you. I need to know you, to sense your presence, to feel your love more than anything else. But I don't know what to do. Every path I follow leads back to me. I must find the way to you! I know you're all I have. But I don't know you well enough for you to be all I need. Please let me find you. - Larry Crabb, Finding God.

Be Encouraged to be uncompromisingly committed to God's will, God's way, and God's timing.
