What is God's will?

To those who are chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father by the sanctifying work of the Spirit to be obedient to Jesus Christ and to be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace [that special sense of spiritual well-being] be yours in increasing abundance [as you walk closely with God]. - 1 Peter 1:1-2 (Amplified Bible)

1. God's will is that you be Saved

For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life - John 6:40a (NASB)

Although God is Sovereign, He works through faith so that a person must believe in Jesus as the Messiah and Son of God, who alone offers the only way of salvation. However, even faith is a gift from God. Intellectually harmonizing the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man is impossible humanly but perfectly resolved in the mind of God. - John MacArthur

2. God's will is that you be Spirit-filled

So be careful how you act; these are difficult days. Don't be fools; be wise: make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good. Don't act thoughtlessly, but try to find out and do whatever the Lord wants you to. Don't drink too much wine, for many evils lie along that path; be filled instead with the Holy Spirit and controlled by him. - Ephesians 5:15,17-18 (Living Bible)

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you - Colossians 3:16a (NASB)

3. God's will is that you be Sanctified

For this is the will of God, that you be sanctified [separated and set apart from sin]: that you abstain and back away from sexual immorality; that each of you knows how to control his own body in holiness and honor [being available for God's purpose and separated from things profane] - 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 (Amplified Bible)

4. God's will is that you be Submissive

Be humble then before God. But resist the devil, and you'll find he'll run away from you. Come close to God, and he will come close to you. Realize that you have sinned, and get your hands clean again. Realize that you have been disloyal, and get your hearts made true once more. As you come close to God, you should be deeply sorry, you should be grieved, you should even be in tears. Your laughter will have to become mourning, your high spirits will have to become heartfelt dejection. You will have to feel very small in the sight of God before he will set you on your feet once more. - James 4:7-8 (Phillips)

5. God's will is that you Suffer

Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. - 2 Timothy 3:12 (NASB)

Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God shall entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right. - 1 Peter 4:19 (NASB)

If it is the will of God that you should suffer it is really better to suffer unjustly than because you have deserved it. Remember that Christ the just, suffered for us the unjust, to bring us to God. - 1 Peter 3:17 (Phillips)

6. God's will is that you Say Thanks

In every situation [no matter what the circumstances], be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. - 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (Amplified Bible)

7. Do what you want

Be delighted with the Lord. Then he will give you all your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him to help you do it, and he will. Your innocence will be clear to everyone. He will vindicate you with the blazing light of justice shining down as from the noonday sun. - Psalm 37:4-6 (Living Bible)

If you are saved, Spirit-filled, sanctified, submissive, suffer for doing right, and thanking God continually, God will align your desires to His will. He will plant His desires in your heart, so when you do what you want, you are doing His will. This is the transformation of a transformed follower of Jesus Christ.

And in the same way—by our faith —the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don't even know what we should pray for nor how to pray as we should, but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows, of course, what the Spirit is saying as he pleads for us in harmony with God's own will. And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans. - Romans 8:26-28 (Living Bible)

Now may the God of peace [the source of serenity and spiritual well-being] who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood that sealed and ratified the eternal covenant, equip you with every good thing to carry out His will and strengthen you [making you complete and perfect as you ought to be], accomplishing in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. - Hebrews 13:20-21 (Amplified Bible)

Be Encouraged to yield to God's will fully.
