Am I bearing spiritual fruit?

So that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord [displaying admirable character, moral courage, and personal integrity], to [fully] please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing in the knowledge of God [with deeper faith, clearer insight and fervent love for His precepts]; - Colossians 1:10 (Amplified Bible)

This life is not about how much we know about the Bible or how many boxes we can check on our "spirituality" checklist. Instead, true success in this life is how we allow the Holy Spirit to control our lives and the corresponding spiritual fruit we display in our daily interactions with others. The Bible identifies three kinds of spiritual fruit:

1. Spiritual attitudes that characterize a Spirit-led Christ follower.

But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is
love [unselfish concern for others],
joy,
[inner] peace,
patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting],
kindness,
goodness,
faithfulness,
gentleness,
self-control.
Against such things, there is no law. - Galatians 5:22-23 (Amplified Bible)

Do I exhibit these qualities consistently and in increasing quantities?

2. Actions that glorify God.

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. - Hebrews 13:16 (ESV)

Anyone who sets himself up as "religious" by talking a good game is self-deceived. This kind of religion is hot air and only hot air. Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight and guard against corruption from the godless world. - James 1:26 (The Message)

Are my daily actions truly God-honoring, or am I just "hot air"?

3. Leading others to Christ.

So then, my dear ones, just as you have always obeyed [my instructions with enthusiasm], not only in my presence but now much more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation [that is, cultivate it, bring it to full effect, actively pursue spiritual maturity] with awe-inspired fear and trembling [using serious caution and critical self-evaluation to avoid anything that might offend God or discredit the name of Christ]. For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure holding out and offering to everyone the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to rejoice greatly because I did not run [my race] in vain nor labor without result. - Philippians 2:12-13,16 (Amplified Bible)

Do the spiritual attitudes and actions that characterize my daily living draw others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ?

"Therefore, to make pretensions about honoring him more while not calling people to the most radical, soul-freeing satisfaction in God alone is self-contradictory. It won't happen. God is glorified in His people by the way we experience him, not merely by the way we think about him. Indeed, the devil thinks more true thoughts about God in one day than a saint does in a lifetime, and God is not honored by it. The problem with the devil is not his theology but his desires. Our chief end is to glorify God, the great Object. We do so fully when we treasure him, desire him, delight in him so supremely that we let goods and kindred go and display his love to the poor and the lost." - John Piper

Be Encouraged to live a God-honoring life that produces spiritual fruit in increasing quantities.
