Am I living obediently?

And how can we be sure that we belong to him?
By looking within ourselves: Are we genuinely trying to do what He wants us to?

Someone may say, "I am a Christian; I am on my way to heaven; I belong to Christ."
But if he doesn't do what Christ tells him to, he is a liar.

But those who do what Christ tells them to will learn to love God more and more.
That is the way to know whether or not you are a Christian.
Anyone who says he is a Christian should live as Christ did.
1 John 2:3-6 (Living Bible)

Authentic faith is evidenced by obedience to Christ. A true Christ-follower is set apart from sin to God so that they might obey Jesus Christ. Obedience to God's Word and God's way is the objective assurance of genuine salvation.

The true believer will hate his sin even while he is committing it and always after he has done it because it is now completely contrary to his new nature in Christ. Even though a believer's humanness sometimes draws him into sin, and, like Paul, does the very thing he knows he ought not to do (Romans 7:16), he himself will have no peace of conscience until he repents of it.
John MacArthur

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way.
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. - John Sammis

Dear friends, God the Father chose you long ago and knew you would become his children. And the Holy Spirit has been at work in your hearts, cleansing you with the blood of Jesus Christ and making you please him. May God bless you richly and grant you increasing freedom from all anxiety and fear. - 1 Peter 1:2 (Living Bible)

Salvation, apart from obedience, is unknown in the sacred Scriptures...
Apart from obedience, there can be no salvation,
for salvation without obedience is a self-contradictory impossibility.
AW Tozer

Be Encouraged to follow Christ's example, obediently executing God's will, God's way.
