Am I living by faith?

"Look at the proud one, His soul is not right within him, But the righteous will live by his faith [in the true God]. - Habakkuk 2:4 (Amplified Bible)

Is my life characterized by an unyielding faith in God for the strength and wisdom to execute His plan for my life each day, or the reliance on my own wisdom and methods to make life's decisions?

In contrast to the proud, those reliant on their wisdom to execute life, the true Christ-follower, having died to self at the point of justification, will execute life in faithfulness to God and total reliance on the indwelling Holy Spirit for each step of this life. Faith is not a one-time act but a way of life. The true believer, declared righteous by God, will persevere in the faith as their life pattern through sanctification.

For in the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed in a way that awakens more faith]. As it is written and forever remains written, "The just and upright shall live by faith." - Romans 1:17 (Amplified Bible)

No one has ever been declared righteous before God except by faith alone, and true faith will demonstrate itself in action through the active pursuit of obedience in the process of sanctification.

Continue to work out your salvation [that is, cultivate it, bring it to full effect, actively pursue spiritual maturity] with awe-inspired fear and trembling [using serious caution and critical self-evaluation to avoid anything that might offend God or discredit the name of Christ]. For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure. - Philippians 2:12-13 (Amplified Bible)

To have Faith in Christ means, of course, trying to do all that He says. There would be no sense in saying you trusted a person if you would not take his advice. Thus if you have really handed yourself over to Him, it must follow that you are trying to obey Him. But trying in a new way, a less worried way. Not doing these things in order to be saved, but because He has begun to save you already. Not hoping to get to Heaven as a reward for your actions, but inevitably wanting to act in a certain way because a first faint gleam of Heaven is already inside you. - C.S. Lewis

Be Encouraged to persevere in faith and actively pursue obedience in the process of sanctification.
